Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring fetal monitoring certification and NRP on a Level II NICU unit.

Details
  • LDRP unit with 9 LDRP beds, 1 OB-ED bed, 4 NICU beds, and 1 OR suite
  • Patient ratios: 1:1 for active labors, inductions, and C-sections, 1:3 for couplet care, 1:1 newborns until stable, and 1:3 for NICU intermediate care
  • No unit techs or secretaries assigned to the unit
  • Uses CPN central monitoring, IV pumps, infant warmers, tele-med robot for neonatologist, bili-blankets, and PCA pumps
  • Charts in Meditech and CPN
  • Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
  • Full-time schedule of 3 shifts per week with rotating weekends and holidays
  • Floating expected within the facility when not needed on the unit, with some staff cross-trained between LDRP and NICU
  • Daily rounding on all patients including safety rounding
Requirements
  • Active RN license (TN or compact)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience required
  • BLS, NRP (Advanced 9th Edition), and Fetal Monitoring certification (AWHONN Intermediate/Advanced or NCCEFM) required
  • Labor and delivery experience including laboring and recovering the mother and receiving/transitioning the newborn including assessment
  • Experience with inductions (Pitocin, Cervidil) required
  • Experience with shoulder dystocia, postpartum hemorrhage, and other OB emergencies preferred
  • Familiarity with C-sections, circumcisions, intra-uterine monitoring, and vacuum or forceps-assisted deliveries
  • US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration
  • One professional reference required
  • No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
  • Provide comprehensive labor, delivery, postpartum, and neonatal care within a Level II NICU and Level II Trauma facility
  • Facility holds Joint Commission and Stroke Center certifications
  • Team includes several seasoned RNs with up to 30 years of experience who serve as resources and preceptors
  • Collaborative unit culture with strong team support
  • Pink and/or brown scrubs required per infant security policy
  • Great opportunity to gain broad experience across labor, delivery, postpartum, and neonatal care
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; no local candidates accepted
