We're offering an exciting Level 3 Installation & Maintenance Electrician Apprenticeship based at our Harwell Site in Oxfordshire, giving you the opportunity to gain industry‑recognised qualifications, practical experience, and expert mentorship while earning a salary.

What Is the Apprenticeship?

This Government‑approved Level 3 Installation & Maintenance Electrician Apprenticeship provides the technical knowledge and practical skills needed to become a qualified electrician within an industrial environment. The programme includes:

  • Day release study at Abingdon & Witney College
  • Practical, on‑the‑job training at the Harwell Site
  • Mentoring from experienced electrical engineers and technicians
  • Training in a highly regulated environment where safety is paramount
  • On successful completion, you'll achieve a recognised Level 3 qualification and be on the pathway to becoming a fully qualified Installation & Maintenance Electrician.

NRS Harwell A Site, Harwell Campus, OX11 0DF

Working Hours

Monday to Thursday, 7:30 – 16:00
Friday 7:30 – 11:40 (45‑minute unpaid lunch)

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the installation, maintenance, and inspection of electrical systems and equipment
  • Support planned preventative maintenance activities
  • Help diagnose and rectify electrical faults
  • Work with cabling systems, containment, distribution boards, motors, and control panels
  • Learn to interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation
  • Follow strict health, safety, and compliance procedures always
Entry Requirements & What We're Looking For

We're seeking motivated individuals with a genuine interest in electrical engineering and practical work.

  • Be 18 or older by 3 August 2026
  • Have GCSEs (Grade 4/C or above) in Maths and English
  • Ideally have a Science or Technical subject at Grade 4/C or above

We're also looking for:

  • A strong interest in electrical systems and practical problem‑solving
  • Good attention to detail
  • A safety‑first mindset
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to learn in a highly regulated industrial environment
