About The PositionOffice of Central Services is seeking qualified applicants to fill a Plumber IV (Plumber 4A) grade A‑16 position in the Facilities Operation and Management Division. The position will work in various County facilities including the Department of Corrections, the Office of the Sheriff, and the Prince George’s Police Department.
Responsibilities- Lead or assist in the installation, renovation, maintenance and repair of plumbing systems, appliances, and equipment.
- Operate as a project leader over subordinate plumbers or assist the Master Plumber.
- Participate in the installation and maintenance of oil lines, boiler feed lines, radiators, convectors, traps, expansion joints, pressure gauges, condensate pumps, hot and cold water pipes, water heating tanks, drains and sewer connections, faucets, toilet bowls, and related heating equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and develop periodic summaries.
- Observe all safety rules and practices as established by OSHA, the State of Maryland, and the County.
- Perform any tasks and duties consistent with the general occupational category and responsibility level, even if not specifically listed.
- High school graduation or equivalent G.E.D.
- Three (3) years of experience at the full performance level.
- Possession of an appropriate license issued by the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC).
- Valid driver’s license with no more than six (6) points.
(Any equivalent combination of relevant training, education, and experience may also be considered.)
Conditions of Employment- Must be willing to respond to emergency service calls on a 24‑hour basis.
- Must be willing to work outdoors in any weather.
- Must meet all training and performance standards and demonstrate required proficiency.
- Must wear and use agency protective apparel and equipment.
- Must pass pre‑employment checks, including reference checks, background investigations, and drug screenings where applicable.
- Essential employee status: expected to report during standard or non‑standard hours and during emergencies, including remaining at work when other County employees are granted Administrative Leave.
Salary range listed reflects the offer range for this position. Offers are based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
