Job Summary

Prince George’s County Office of Central Services is seeking qualified applicants to fill a Maintenance Services Attendant III (A-13) position within its Facilities Operation and Management Division. This position may work in various county facilities, including correctional facilities. It is an essential, lead/supervisory role that involves skilled and manual work.

Responsibilities
  • Perform and lead preventive maintenance and repair of HVAC, plumbing, or electrical systems in county-owned and leased buildings.
  • Report all major equipment failures and problems.
  • Review and respond to work orders.
  • Ensure assignments are completed on time and in accordance with departmental rules and regulations.
  • Monitor the use, operation, and inventory of equipment and supplies assigned to the crew.
  • Establish work plans and schedules for lower‑level Maintenance Services Attendants and/or Trades Helpers regarding preventive maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with administrative rules, measures and security regulations at all times.
  • Cooperate with tasks and duties not specifically listed in the class specification but within the general occupational category and responsibility level with the employee’s class of work.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Completion of high school or vocational school.
  • Responsible experience in general maintenance trades work at the full performance level.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license with no more than six points.
  • Willingness to respond to emergency service calls on a 24‑hour basis.
  • Good physical condition.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three (3) years of experience performing repair and maintenance work on plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems.
  • One (1) year of lead/supervisory level experience.
Conditions of Employment
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license with no more than six points.
  • Must be willing to respond to emergency service calls on a 24‑hour basis.
  • Meet all training and performance standards and demonstrate proficiency as required by the agency.
  • Wear and use agency protective apparel and equipment in the performance of assigned duties.
  • Successfully pass pre‑employment checks which may include reference checks, background investigations, and drug screenings.
  • Be willing and able to serve as an essential employee, reporting during standard or non‑standard hours as operations necessitate, or during emergencies.
