Overview

We are seeking an experienced, highly skilled, and detail-driven Automotive Diagnostic Technician to join our fast-growing service center. In this role, you will be the go-to expert for diagnosing complex mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic strategies.

As a Diagnostic Technician, you will apply your deep technical knowledge, analytical mindset, and problem-solving abilities to pinpoint root causes quickly and accurately. You will perform high-level diagnostics, guide repair strategies, and support the technician team with your expertise—helping maintain our reputation for precision, honesty, and exceptional customer care.

Key Responsibilities Advanced Vehicle Diagnostics
  • Utilize OEM-level diagnostic tools, scan equipment, oscilloscopes, and multimeters to identify electrical, drivability, and performance issues.
  • Interpret diagnostic trouble codes, freeze-frame data, live data streams, and technical service information.
  • Determine root causes of complex vehicle concerns with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Perform advanced testing on ignition systems, fuel delivery, CAN networks, sensor circuits, and control modules.
Specialized Repairs & Technical Support
  • Execute high-level mechanical and electrical repairs based on diagnostic findings.
  • Support other technicians by reviewing symptoms, confirming causes, and recommending repair paths.
  • Perform reprogramming, calibrations, relearns, and module configurations as required.
  • Conduct test drives, verify quality of repairs, and ensure all safety and performance standards are met.
Documentation & Quality Control
  • Maintain precise, well-organized diagnostic notes and repair documentation in shop management systems.
  • Follow manufacturer procedures, technical bulletins, and best-practice testing methods.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and work areas remain clean, safe, and compliant with company and environmental standards.
Customer & Team Communication
  • Clearly explain diagnostic findings, repair recommendations, and outcomes in terms customers can understand.
  • Assist service advisors in building accurate, transparent estimates.
  • Work collaboratively with service advisors, management, and the technician team to prioritize workflow and deliver an exceptional customer experience.
Qualifications & Skills Required
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Proven experience as an Automotive Diagnostic Technician or Senior Technician.
  • Strong proficiency with scan tools, electrical system testing, and advanced diagnostic methodology.
  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, service information, and OEM repair procedures.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong attention to detail.
  • Customer-first communication and professionalism.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Preferred
  • Associate degree in Automotive Technology or completion of accredited automotive training programs.
  • ASE certifications (A6 Electrical, A8 Engine Performance, L1 Advanced Diagnostics) strongly preferred.
  • Experience in dealership, drivability, or electrical-specialist environments.
  • Familiarity with ADAS calibration, module programming, or hybrid/EV systems is a plus.
