Sports Reporter

We are looking for a team player who will provide quality game reports and in-depth feature stories, while maintaining a reliable presence on social media. We are looking for a candidate who will continue to grow both our print and our digital audiences. The position requires a reporter who knows how to incorporate photos or videos and make a story come to life.

The hours for this position call for night and weekend availability. Candidates should have a college degree in journalism or a related field and previous experience. This position requires a thorough understanding of AP style and demonstrated ability to excel on deadlines. Experience with the web, multimedia and photography is a plus. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, dependable transportation and proof of insurance.

This position is located in Dixon, Illinois.

• Provide coverage of high school athletics beyond just game stories, including features, enterprise projects and data journalism
• Produce content for our digital platforms, including photos and video
• Promote content on social media channels, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Tik Tok
• Develop sources within the local sports community
