Role Description Full-Time, Nursing Faculty Position (Fall 2026)

Sauk Valley Community College (SVCC), a comprehensive institution dedicated to academic excellence, invites applications for a dedicated Full-Time, Nursing Faculty opening available for the Fall 2026 semester.

The Faculty member is responsible for instructional excellence, curriculum development, and institutional service, all while vigorously supporting the mission of the learning college.

This is a
campus-based
position, with full-time faculty expected to be regularly present for core institutional responsibilities.

  • Teaching Modality:Possible opportunities exist for incorporating asynchronous or synchronous online teaching as part of the full-time teaching load.
  • Required On-Campus Time:Full-time faculty are required to be on campus for:
  • Scheduled office hours for student support
  • College committees and college-wide meetings
  • Department meetings and institutional service responsibilities
  • Typical Class

    Schedule:

    Classes are offered Monday through Friday with variable hours.

    Some evenings may be required.

Instruction, Assessment, and Curriculum

  • Instructional Adaptation:Regularly assess student learning in the classroom and adapt
    instruction
    accordingly to maximize student success.
  • Assessment Process:Participate in the established college-wide process for assessing student learning, including generating and sharing classroom assessment data.
  • Curriculum Review:Regularly review the need for courses, programs, and other curriculum changes in accordance with the college-wide strategic planning process.

Student Support and Advising

  • Progress Monitoring:Keep an accurate grade, log attendance within the
    Learning Management System (LMS), and maintain student progress records for each student.
  • Early Intervention:

    Inform students by the fifth week

    of the semester of class work below the "C" level. Records for students in jeopardy of failing will be submitted at the end of the fourth, eighth, and twelfth week.
  • Office

    Hours:

    Establish, post, and keep office hours

    available for student conferences at times convenient for students.
  • Student Guidance:

    Advise students

    when appropriate and cooperate with the Counseling staff on student problems associated with the instructor’s class.

Administrative and Service Responsibilities

  • Institutional Goals:Assume responsibility, as a staff member, for accomplishing the goals and objectives of the College.
  • Professional Development:Develop, in consultation with the immediate supervisor, an annual set of goals for the instructional area prior to the beginning of each school year.
  • Meetings:Attend all division/program/area meetings, faculty discussion hours (forums), committee meetings, and other meetings for which they have a professional responsibility.
  • Record Submission:Turn in all official records to the office of admissions and records and the appropriate supervisor as requested at the close of each semester.
  • Absence Notification:Notify the appropriate supervisor promptly in case regularly assigned duties cannot be performed.

Qualifications

  • A master’s or higher degree in nursing or a baccalaureate degree in nursing plus evidence of continued progress toward a masters or higher degree in nursing with completion of a minimum of six (6) semester hours per calendar year.
  • Licensed (or eligible for licensure) as a Registered Nurse in the state of Illinois.
  • Evidence of current practice with a minimum of two (2) years full-time equivalent practice as a Registered Nurse in a clinical setting, with Medical/Surgical experience.
  • Valid CPR certification.
  • Must have a valid drivers license and transportation to travel to clinical sites.
  • 20% time spent standing while assisting students; 20% walking; 50% sitting; and 10% time spent physically moving equipment or supplies.
