SummaryWe are seeking a dedicated and innovative Library Media Specialist to join our team at Webster County High School. This full-time position is designed for an individual who is passionate about fostering a love for reading and learning among students. The Library Media Specialist will play a vital role in developing a dynamic library program that supports the educational goals of the school and enhances student achievement through effective information literacy instruction and resource management.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement a comprehensive library media program that aligns with the curriculum and meets the needs of students and staff.
- Provide instruction in information literacy, research skills, and the effective use of library resources.
- Curate and maintain a diverse and relevant collection of print and digital resources, ensuring accessibility for all students and staff.
- Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources and technology into classroom instruction.
- Promote literacy through reading initiatives, book clubs, and author visits.
- Organize and oversee library events, workshops, and activities that engage students and promote a positive library culture.
- Manage the library budget and resources, including the acquisition of new materials and technology.
- Assist students and staff in locating and utilizing library resources effectively.
- Stay current with trends in library science, technology, and educational practices to continually improve library services.
- Evaluate and assess library programs and services to ensure continuous improvement and effectiveness.
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment that encourages exploration and learning.
- Master’s degree in Library Science or Information Science from an accredited institution.
- Valid teaching certification and/or library media specialist certification as required by state regulations.
- Strong knowledge of library management systems, digital resources, and emerging technologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and the community.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement engaging instructional programs.
- Passion for promoting literacy and a love of reading among students.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
- Previous experience in a school library or educational setting is preferred.
