Position: Library Paraprofessional - Shared Between Washington and Jefferson

Paraprofessional Vacancy

Paraprofessional duties include monitoring and supervising students, delivering weekly library instruction to grades K3, managing book circulation, checkouts, returns, and inventory, partnering with teachers to support curriculum goals and themes, recommending instructional resources and materials to support curriculum, evaluating materials to ensure they are age-appropriate, diverse, and aligned with curriculum standards, maintaining circulation records, cataloging systems, and library budgets, developing library policies and procedures, ensuring the library is a welcoming, inclusive environment that promotes a love for reading, organizing reading challenges, book fairs, and literacy events, promoting new books while maintaining an organized and accessible library.

Paraprofessional qualifications include highly qualified parapro approval (60 hours post-secondary work shown on a transcript or passing score on the Parapro assessment/diploma or GED), interest and ability to work with students/teachers, ability to work with others as well as independently, and ability to multi-task.

Salary and fringe benefits include an hourly rate based on the lane/step placement of the paraprofessional for the 26-27 school year per the DESPA collective bargaining agreement. Range: $15.00 - $18.41. Fifteen (15) days per year sick leave. Two (2) days personal leave per year. Health, Vision, Dental and Life Insurance offered. IMRF Retirement.
