Honey Bee Child Development Center (Child Care Classroom Teachers)
Honey Bee Child Development Center at Shimer Square is in growth mode and currently looking for Early Childhood Teachers to join our team! The Early Childhood Teacher is responsible for the supervision and management of the classroom in accordance with the philosophy, program, and curriculum of our center to provide child care which is caring, consistent, constructive, and developmentally appropriate. - Our ideal candidate will have a complete understanding of the Department of Children and Family Licensing standards for day care centers.
- Knowledge of theories and principles of child development, along with an understanding of emergency procedures for first aid, fire drills, and severe weather procedures.
- Classroom management, lesson planning, documentation and assessment.
- Work cooperatively with classroom co-staff to ensure children’s educational and developmental needs are met in a caring and respectful way.
- Work a schedule of 37.5 hours per week.
$18.50 per hour

- Sixty semester hours (or 90 quarter hours) from an accredited college or university with six semester or nine quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development, from birth to age six.
- One year (1560 clock hours) of child development experience in a nursery school, kindergarten, or licensed day care center and 30 semester hours (or 45 quarter hours) of credits from an accredited college or university with six semester or nine quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development, from birth to age six.
- Completion of credentialing programs approved by the Department.
- Demonstrate emotional maturity when working with children.
- Cooperate with the purposes and services of the program.
- Show respect for children and adults.
- Demonstrate flexibility, understanding, and patience.
- Possess good personal hygiene and a level of physical and mental health that do not interfere with child care responsibilities.
- Show excellent listening skills, availability and responsiveness to children through frequent interactions.
- Show sensitivity to children’s socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds, and individual needs and capabilities.
- Use positive guidance and discipline techniques.
- Complete a pre-employment physical with TB test, and submit immunization records showing proof of Tdap and MMR vaccinations.
