Landfill Heavy Equipment Operator- Class II

Position Summary

The Heavy Equipment Operator safely operates various light and heavy equipment in a hazardous waste treatment processing facility or landfill.

• Assist in off‑loading trucks and unloading waste.
• Operate equipment to stabilize and handle waste.
• Process treatment of materials and containers.
• Sample post‑treated materials for laboratory testing.
• Load cleared post‑treated materials for shipment to landfill or disposal.
• Perform general preventative maintenance on equipment and general housekeeping.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation.
• Ability to use applicable hand and power tools.
• Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance (e.g., checking tire pressure, oil, and water levels).
• Demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize, stay focused, and handle multiple, diverse responsibilities.
• Valid driver’s license may be required for some positions.

• 1 or more years of related experience.
• Ability to pass 40‑hour HAZWOPER training upon hire.
• Compensation: $36.20 per hour.
