Job Summary

As the Manufacturing Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading a manufacturing team and overseeing daily operations and production processes at the Dixon, IL facility. Your role includes hiring, training, and motivating employees; driving continuous improvement initiatives; ensuring a safe and clean working environment; and prioritizing measures that impact on‑time delivery, quality control, inventory management, and financial commitments.

Job Responsibilities
  • Supervisory Leadership
    • Provide leadership and guidance to the manufacturing team to ensure productivity, collaboration, and a positive working environment.
    • Foster open communication and promote a culture of trust and engagement.
    • Partner in recruiting employees by promoting open positions and actively participating in hiring, selection, and onboarding.
    • Support employee training and development by identifying needs, creating training plans, and providing coaching.
    • Hold performance discussions and deliver corrective actions as necessary.
    • Organize workflow by setting objectives, preparing schedules, and communicating progress.
    • Act as a point of contact for employee concerns, working with HR to resolve issues promptly.
  • Safety
    • Promote and maintain a safe working environment by enforcing guidelines, conducting inspections, and addressing issues immediately.
    • Ensure tools and equipment are safe, functional, and well-maintained.
    • Assist in investigations of safety concerns.
    • Oversee cleanliness and organization of the manufacturing area.
    • Serve as a safety champion, encouraging employees to identify and resolve risks.
  • Production Execution
    • Collaborate with production planning and logistics to prioritize schedules and ensure on‑time delivery.
    • Implement and monitor quality control procedures to meet high‑quality standards.
    • Conduct inspections and coordinate with quality teams to resolve issues promptly.
    • Optimize inventory management to support production and maintain accurate records.
    • Estimate accurate hour requirements and manage labor goals daily.
    • Manage scrap to achieve fiscal program goals.
    • Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures.
  • Continuous Improvement & Documentation
    • Use ERP and other technology to generate reports for planning and performance monitoring.
    • Maintain accurate records: production reports, inventory data, safety logs, employee performance, and time & attendance.
    • Create key performance indicator reports.
    • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, equipment performance, quality, and reduce cost.
    • Apply lean manufacturing principles.
    • Participate in related projects supporting departmental and organizational goals.
Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of supervisory/leadership experience in a manufacturing environment (5 years preferred).
  • Experience attracting, retaining, motivating, and developing high‑performing, diverse teams.
  • Experience in a unionized manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes including assembly, welding/machining, and quality control.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Proficiency with manufacturing software and systems for inventory management and production planning, including ERP.
  • Knowledge of the HVAC industry.
  • Proven ability to build effective partnerships with leaders.
  • Excellent communication, motivation, supervision, and training skills for hourly manufacturing employees.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Skills in Microsoft Office software.
Education & Certifications
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Position is onsite; plant environment may involve exposure to bad weather, excessive heat, or noise.
Physical Demands
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent movement around the manufacturing facility.
Compensation

As required by law in this state, the estimated salary range for this position is $70,500 - $93,400. Compensation is tailored within this range based on organizational needs, internal equity, market data, geographic zone, and the selected candidate’s experience, education, industry knowledge,…
