About the OpportunityA nationally recognized architectural firm specializing in historic preservation, restoration, rehabilitation, and adaptive reuse is seeking an Architectural Associate to join its Kansas City team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career architect to gain hands‑on experience across commercial, government, historic preservation, restoration, renovation, and adaptive reuse projects.
You’ll work closely with Project Managers and experienced architects while contributing to projects from design and documentation through field investigations and construction administration.
What You’ll Do- Support Project Managers with design and predesign project production
- Produce construction documents and technical drawings
- Perform site visits, field investigations, and existing-building documentation
- Assist with Historic Structure Reports and condition assessments
- Support preservation, rehabilitation, restoration, renovation, and adaptive reuse projects
- Participate in field verification, measurements, photography, and 3D scanning
- Assist with specifications and technical documentation
- Coordinate project details with architects, consultants, and project teams
- Support construction administration on applicable projects
- Assist with proposals and government RFQ responses
- Work across multiple projects and project teams
- Travel to project sites throughout the Midwest and nationally
- 1-4 years of professional architecture experience
- Previous architectural firm experience; relevant internship experience may be considered
- Bachelor of Architecture
- Historic preservation or restoration experience is preferred
- Proficiency in Revit
- Proficiency with Adobe products
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organization
- Willingness to travel for project needs
- Revit - required
- Sketch Up
- Enscape and other Revit rendering plugins
- Microsoft Word
