Sunflower, a generation and transmission utility serving central and western Kansas, is hiring a Mechanic I - IV in Dodge City, KS. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands‑on environment and has a strong background in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining industrial equipment.

• Maintain all generation related mechanical components and equipment to ensure the highest availability and efficiency of operation.
• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective mechanical maintenance.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose failure and disassemble, repair, replace, reassemble, install, or test equipment.
• Be supported in a safety‑conscious culture with training, tools, and PPE to prioritize your well‑being at the job.

• High school diploma and four years heavy industrial mechanical maintenance experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Vocational degree, certificate, or college coursework in a related industrial field is preferred.

Applicants hired will be placed into the Sunflower Mechanic Progression (levels I - IV) based on relevant experience and education.

We administer selection tests for a variety of positions. The required tests have been developed by the Edison Electric Institute (EEI), a trade association of investor‑owned electric utility companies. We strongly encourage candidates to review all the information, including the sample test brochures, and to use the available practice tests before taking the actual tests, available here:

Practice tests provide sample questions and detailed discussions of the correct answers. It is important to take the practice test as you would the actual one, with similar intensity and concentration. You must have Adobe Acrobat Reader on your computer.

EEI does not allow access to the actual tests. Testing sessions are held at various locations.
