OBJECTIVE/ PURPOSE OF THE JOB
This position leads the development and deployment of category strategies that drive business growth, in-market excellence, and competitive advantage. The role manages the designated category’s performance across channels, identifying key growth opportunities and ensuring flawless execution of sales business plans through close collaboration with cross‑functional teams and external Principals. As the internal expert for the category, the Market Strategy & Planning Manager builds data‑driven strategies, manages forecasting and budget planning, and ensures alignment across stakeholders to deliver best‑in‑class execution, sustainable growth, and increased market share.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Category Management / Expertise and Strategies
- Obtains the needed knowledge regarding the category strategies and key business drivers.
- Obtains full understanding of the category performance by channel and spot on the key opportunities.
- Ensures the deployment of category strategies (dpsm) by cbd teams.
- Analyses and has clear picture of competitive information and activities.
- Leads the internal deployment of the plans to maintain category competitive edge.
- Searches and re‑applies proven success models.
- Contributes to business and budget planning for the category.
- Serves as an internal category expert.
- Principals Management
- Serves as a contact person for the Principals MS&P.
- Works proactively with the Principals and Brand Management Teams on developing aggressive sales business plans to achieve desired results.
- Manages day‑to‑day relationships with MS&P of the Principals to ensure flawless execution of the initiatives Master Plan.
- Deployment of Sales Business Plans
- Develops the internal initiatives execution plan by channel in alignment with the CBD Team Leaders.
- Obtains the necessary budget from Principals (tfis) and manages the funds internally.
- Puts in place the right tools that ensure flawless and superior execution of sales business plans targeting best‑in‑class execution.
- Communicates effectively the plans to CBD to ensure fast and quality execution.
- Trains and rolls out category knowledge to the CBD organization and prepares post‑event documentation (Field Initiative Recap).
- Forecasting
- Provides the Demand function with volume sales forecast to ensure optimum inventory levels.
- Performs other tasks as delegated by superior.
- Job Requirements
- BS Degree; preference for those with degree in Business Management, Marketing, Business Administration from leading universities.
- Minimum 3 years of CBD experience; competitive knowledge of trading area and local market trends; ability to use best practice business tools & standards; highly proficient in MS Office.
