Job Summary

The Operational Risk Manager will support the implementation of the ORM framework by driving risk identification, control assessment, testing, incident analysis, and KRI development across business units. The role will also contribute to the rollout of the Bank’s GRC system, engaging key stakeholders, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to operational risk.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning, managing and providing ongoing support for the implementation of the Bank’s operational risk framework including all operational risk tools.
  • Assist in providing guidance and support to business units to ensure successful management, identification, measurement and monitoring of the Bank’s operational risks.
  • Facilitate risk assessment programmes for business units and work with them to identify and monitor relevant risks.
  • Follow up with business units to design and implement controls and action plans that mitigate operational risk.
  • Analyse and monitor all operational risk incidents, impact and completion of action plans.
  • Assist business units in developing key risk indicators (KRI) and Risk Appetite (RAS) for all key risk areas, thresholds and reporting in the risk dashboard.
  • Assist in the management of operational risk committee and other relevant risk committees to ensure reporting is done accurately and timely.
Governance Risk & Compliance (GRC) System
  • Coordinate the end-to-end implementation of operational risk system including preparation of Business and User Requirements that reflect the Bank’s ORM methodology, UAT and roll-out.
  • Collaborate with internal IT department and system vendor to effectively implement the GRC system.
  • In-charge of operational risk reporting including all elements in the ORM framework (i.e., RCSA, KRI and Loss Events).
  • Assist in end-to-end automation of the information needed to be provided to senior management and Operational Risk Committee.
  • Perform benchmarking by analyzing external data versus internal data on a need basis.
Other Responsibilities
  • Develop positive and productive working relationships with business units and promote knowledge sharing.
  • Prepare any internal ad-hoc requests (e.g., memos, presentations, documentation).
  • Respond to audit requests or any initiative or request related to Non-Financial Risk department.
  • Respond to regulatory request or reporting whether planned or ad-hoc.
  • Execute BAU internal reporting and reconciliation activities as assigned.
Continuous Improvements
  • Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvements of processes and practices considering international best practices for productivity improvements, cost reduction and process improvements.
  • Effectively utilize technological resources, suggest ways for automation for better efficiency.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree in Business, Economics, Finance or any related field.
  • Professional risk management certifications or any relevant professional certification would be considered.
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proficient in VBA, data visualization tools, Power BI would be considered.
  • English/Arabic language proficiency preferred.
Required Experience
  • More than 5 years experience in banking industry or Big Four servicing financial institutions.
  • Operational Risk Management in the first or second line of defense.
  • Extensive knowledge of operational risk management and framework.
  • Knowledge of banking industry products, processes, and services.
  • Business process management expertise.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to drive and achieve desired results within defined time duration.
  • Ability to interact with other departments in multi-cultural environment.
