Position: QNB3787 - Manager Subsidiary Operational Risk (Qatarization)

Job Summary

The incumbent will primarily be responsible for providing oversight, guidance, and challenge to the QNB Group Subsidiaries in all matters relating to the QNB Group Operational Risk Framework. The role directly supports the VP of Subsidiaries Operational Risk, working closely with the Heads of Risk/Operational Risk in each location to oversee the deployment of a consistent methodology, approach, and execution standards of operational risk management practices.

Responsibilities
  • Shareholder & Financial:
    Support implementation of the New QNB Group Operational Risk Framework (policies, procedures, and standards) to improve the group’s management of operational risks.
  • Increase the effectiveness of management’s oversight by analyzing and reporting operational risk data.
  • Ensure dissemination and understanding of Group Risk Committees policies, procedures, directives, and guidelines among subsidiary units, ensuring risk mitigation, operational efficiency, and protection against financial losses.
  • Distil insights and provide clarity on the top 10 material operational risks to support risk‑informed decisions at the executive committee level and enable proper risk oversight by the board.
  • Promote a strong control culture and general awareness of risk management across the business.
  • Implement KPIs and best practices for Subsidiary Operational Risk.
  • Act within delegated powers.
  • Work with cross‑functional teams to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data and reporting.
  • Customer (Internal & External):
    Assist customers in all queries on bank products and seek solutions to their requests.
  • Maintain activities in accordance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with internal departments/units to improve turnaround time.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with related departments/units to achieve the Group’s objectives.
  • Provide timely and accurate data to external/internal auditors, compliance, financial control, and risk teams.
  • Support and facilitate the QNB Operational Risk Committee, ensuring delivery of strong papers addressing key risk areas and fostering debate among subsidiary members.
  • Regularly contribute papers and commentary to governance committees, ensuring the operational risk profile is clearly reported and understood.
  • Consolidate portfolio management data and other MIS information from other operational risk subfunctions.
  • Produce accurate reports on operational risk and disseminate to concerned business units and senior management.
  • Stay updated on relevant best practice pronouncements and work to instill them within the Group’s operational risk practices.
  • Develop, finalize, and report on Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) for each subsidiary.
  • Carry out ongoing evaluation of all systems, processes, and infrastructure to ensure policies and standards are in place for identifying, assessing, measuring, managing, and reporting operational risks, including systemic risks.
  • Escalate relevant operational risk reporting/issues as requested by the VP Subsidiaries Operational Risk to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements.
  • Assist in delivery of other projects as mandated by the VP of Subsidiaries.
  • Possess understanding of business processes and controls in all operational areas.
  • Possess superior knowledge of quantitative techniques for assessing, measuring, and managing operational risk.
  • Maintain understanding of all pertinent regulations and best practices for operational risk.
Education And Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree preferably with a major in Marketing, Banking, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or Information Technology (related field of study).
  • At least 6 years of relevant experience, preferably within a highly rated international bank.
