Job Purpose Summary
The incumbent has full ownership and accountability for the achievement of the overall International Islamic Banking targets (assets, liabilities and profits). The incumbent will be overall responsible for the initial development and subsequent implementation of the approved QNB Group International Banking strategy in line with the overall Group strategy. The incumbent will communicate with the stakeholder to ensure that the Islamic product offerings are continually aligned with the market offerings and cater to the needs and expectations of the retail and corporate banking clientele seeking Sharia‑compliant banking relationships.
The incumbent will also develop and maintain key relationships with external business partners.
- Shareholder & Financial:
- Implements KPIs and best practices for the position.
- Reviews QNB International Islamic Banking strategic and business development plans and subsequently implements the approved plan to facilitate achievement of related short‑ and long‑term business goals internationally.
- Oversees the development and implementation of annual business plans by the Islamic Banking segments in International Banking to meet pre‑set targets and objectives.
- Manages target budgets (deposits, financing deals, profits, expenses) in accordance with the Group’s overall budget and strategy, monitoring them in conjunction with Islamic functions.
- Facilitates the implementation of best practices across all QNB International activities to promote efficiencies and increase customer satisfaction.
- Acts within delegated authority, delegating to staff and monitoring their exercise of authority.
- Customer (Internal & External):
- Ensures the provision of value‑added Shariah‑compliant products to existing and potential Islamic clientele.
- Maintains and enhances relationships with international regulators, auditors, and the Group Compliance function.
- Builds strong, effective relationships with related departments and units to achieve the Group’s objectives.
- Internal (Processes, Products, Regulatory):
- Communicates approved strategy, plans, budgets, and policies to departmental heads, ensuring guidance or compliance.
- Maintains continuous compliance of policies and procedures with prevailing practices and regulations concerning Islamic Banking.
- Supports selection of investment funds and monitors international financial market trends for suitable investments.
- Monitors market forces in the Islamic Banking market and incorporates them into product design.
- Oversees rollout of Sharia‑compliant products and efficient resource use within the group.
- Reviews Islamic portfolio by business segment and product profile, reporting to SEVP International Business.
- Maintains an internal control environment, addressing control weaknesses and compliance issues.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Leads improvement initiatives and encourages innovative thinking within the team.
- Learning & Knowledge:
- Establishes training plans and identifies professional development opportunities.
- Conducts regular meetings with the Islamic team to enhance offerings and resolve grievances.
- Assesses team performance and prepares staff for greater responsibilities.
- Minimum 12 years of relevant work experience, preferably within a highly rated international bank.
- Minimum education requirement:
Bachelor’s Degree (related field of study).
