Job Summary
The incumbent will be responsible for developing and managing relationships with Financial Institutions and strengthening correspondent banking relationships by fostering new correspondent banking alliances. The incumbent will ensure the extension of the Group’s reach to the different geographical areas of the world.
Responsibilities- Assist in implementing strategies and plans to achieve volume, revenue, and profit targets.
- Support the SVP, FI & CB Relations in developing KPIs for performance monitoring and quality measurement of the Financial Institutions Unit, and monitor achievements on a periodic basis.
- Meet and exceed target budgets for new and existing Financial Institutions relationships, including placements, borrowings, and loan syndications, in accordance with QNB’s overall division budget and strategy.
- Promote cost consciousness and efficiency, enhancing productivity to minimise costs, avoid waste, and optimise benefits for the bank.
- Operate within delegated powers and implement KPI’s and best practices for the role.
- Ensure superior customer service by building lasting relationships with financial correspondents.
- Build and maintain strong relationships between QNB Group and counter parties, coordinating with international branches and subsidiaries.
- Partner with other divisions and international branches when recommending relationships with counter party banks.
- Assist the SVP, FI & CB Relations in developing and managing relationships with correspondent banks; travel internationally to promote QNB.
- Monitor periodical P&L for the department, Nostro/Vostro, treasury related income and expenses linked with counter parties.
- Maintain activities in accordance with SLAs, improving turnaround time.
- Provide information to external/internal Auditors, Compliance, Financial Control, and Risk functions as required.
- Support SVP, FI and CB Relations on business development, credit recommendation, and relationship management for selected banks.
- Ensure existence of approved policies/procedures to guide staff, mandating compliance.
- Manage the Credit Portfolio of Financial Institutions, implementing corrective measures and reviewing performance.
- Approve credit proposals within delegated powers.
- Report negative events and early signals on problematic accounts.
- Monitor external ratings to identify changes impacting FI relationships.
- Conduct annual reviews of Financial Institutions timely and present reports to executive management and Board.
- Implement approved Relationship Management strategy to achieve business objectives.
- Provide technical expertise to Relationship Officers on credit proposals.
- Support bank’s international projects such as the Annual IMF Meetings and SIBOS Expos.
- Resolve staff grievances or conflicts promptly.
- Maintain knowledge of Financial Institution operations, controls, and regulatory requirements.
- Compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal policies (AML, CTF, Sanctions, Data Protection, Fraud, Whistle Blowing, Conflict of Interest).
- Operate under Three Lines of Defense principles; support RCSA, KRI, Incident reporting.
- Maintain data protection and confidentiality standards.
- Uphold QNB’s reputation and market leadership.
- Perform any ad hoc duties as required by management.
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Banking, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or Information Technology;
Master’s preferred. - At least 12 years of relevant experience, preferably within an internationally rated bank.
- In‑depth knowledge of the financial institution and correspondent banking segment, competitive structure, industry practices and regulations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Arabic.
- Strong people‑relationship skills and awareness of risk‑management concepts.
- Understanding of laws, regulations and best practices pertaining to Financial Institution relationships.
- Self‑management and personal integrity.
- Planning, organising and analytical abilities with problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
- Capability to motivate and lead diverse cultural teams.
- Knowledge of AML laws and regulations.
