Direct Tax Compliance Risk Expert
The Direct Tax Compliance Risk Expert is responsible for leading compliance risk analysis related to direct taxes by applying data-driven and sector-based analytical methodologies to identify potential non-compliance and estimate tax gaps. The role includes conducting behavioral, sectoral, and international risk analyses, preparing detailed risk reports, and developing risk-based taxpayer selection lists to support tax audits and other compliance interventions. The position also coordinates with internal counterparts and national and international stakeholders and provides expert advice on analytical tools, methodologies, and procedures to strengthen tax compliance risk management.
Key Responsibilities Risk Analysis and Identification of Non-Compliance PatternsAnalyze direct tax compliance risks using statistical models, research activities, behavioral analysis, and sector-based analytics to identify patterns of non-compliance.
Review and assess risks associated with international direct tax matters, including tax treaty abuse, transfer pricing, and risks arising from cross-border structures.
Tax Gap Assessment and Risk EvaluationEstimate tax gaps resulting from identified direct tax risks and assess their potential financial impact across sectors and taxpayer categories.
Analyze risk trends over time to monitor changes in direct tax risk levels and evaluate the effectiveness of previous compliance interventions.
Risk Reporting and RecommendationsPrepare periodic reports on direct tax risks, including identified risks, analytical methodologies, and estimated financial impacts.
Develop recommendations to reduce direct tax compliance risks through targeted tax audits, enhanced compliance measures, and the application of advanced detection technologies.
Risk-Based Taxpayer SelectionPrepare prioritized lists of direct taxpayers for tax audits and other compliance interventions based on risk assessment results and available data.
Provide the relevant departments with risk-based taxpayer lists, including the rationale for selection and the intended audit outcomes.
Development of Analytical Tools and MethodologiesCoordinate with the Information Technology Department to develop and enhance analytical and technical tools supporting direct tax compliance risk identification and management.
Review the performance of risk assessment models and recommend improvements to risk evaluation methodologies and analytical criteria.
External Collaboration and Knowledge SharingCoordinate with external stakeholders, including the Ministry of Finance and other government entities, on matters related to direct tax compliance risks.
Participate in multidisciplinary forums and international platforms organized by international organizations and partner institutions, and prepare technical contributions on direct tax compliance risk topics.
Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Data Science, Accounting, or a related field.
Master’s degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.
Relevant professional certifications are considered an advantage.
Preferred ExperienceMore than 16 years of experience in taxation, risk analysis, tax auditing, or data analytics.
Extensive knowledge of direct tax compliance risk assessment, including analytical methodologies, tax gap estimation, and risk-based taxpayer selection.
Excellent data analysis and interpretation skills.
Strong understanding of direct taxation principles and the drivers of tax compliance risk.
Ability to prepare comprehensive risk reports and provide practical recommendations.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with internal and external parties.
