This is a full-time, on-site Banquet Chef role located in Sydney, NSW. The Banquet Chef oversees the planning, preparation, and execution of all banquet and event menus, ensuring high-quality dishes that meet brand standards and client expectations. Daily tasks include supervising kitchen staff, coordinating food production for multiple functions, managing food safety and hygiene, and monitoring inventory and cost control. The role collaborates closely with the events, food & beverage, and restaurant teams to design menus, adjust offerings based on guest feedback, and ensure timely service.
The Banquet Chef also trains team members, maintains kitchen equipment, and supports continuous improvement of culinary operations for banquets and special events.
- Strong culinary skills with proven experience in Cooking and Food Preparation for banquets and large-scale events.
- Knowledge of Food Service operations and Food & Beverage standards within an upscale or luxury hotel environment.
- Advanced Culinary Skills in menu planning, presentation, and flavor profiling, with attention to dietary requirements and food safety.
- Experience leading kitchen teams, including scheduling, training, and performance management.
- Formal culinary education or equivalent professional experience in a similar Banquet Chef or senior kitchen role.
- Thorough understanding of HACCP, local food safety regulations, and best practices in kitchen hygiene.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays based on event schedules.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple events simultaneously.
