Position: Senior Legal Counsel

Industry: Water and Power Sector

Provide company with high-quality, accurate, and timely legal advice and support on all legal risks and legal issues to assist it to achieve its aims in a lawful, effective, ethical and accountable manner.

Provide services to the JVs/ IPPs as assigned by the General Counsel to assist them to function lawfully and effectively.

Legal Analysis and Compliance: Manage in-depth legal research activities to identify relevant changes in laws and regulations that could impact QEWC, its joint ventures, and independent power producers. Provide actionable insights and recommendations for compliance strategies.

Legal Analysis and Compliance: Lead the implementation of new compliance protocols and guidelines across the organization. Monitor their effectiveness and suggest improvements to ensure continuous adherence to legal standards.

Legal Analysis and Compliance: Lead regular audits of organizational practices against compliance standards and legal requirements. Identify risk areas and develop mitigation strategies to prevent legal disputes and enhance compliance.

Contract and Document Oversight: Lead and manage the initial drafting and detailed review of various contracts and agreements. Ensure that all documents align with legal and corporate standards before escalating to the General Counsel for final approval.

Contract and Document Oversight: Actively participate in the creation and revision of corporate policies and procedures. Ensure that these documents reflect the പ്രവർത്ത latest legal requirements and business objectives.

Contract and Document Oversight: Engage in the negotiation of contract terms with partners and suppliers. Ensure favorable terms while maintaining compliance with legal standards and protecting QEWC’s interests.

Litigation & Legal Project Management: Manage the preparation of all documentation required for litigation and dispute resolution processes, including compiling evidence, drafting briefs, and liaising with external counsel.

Litigation & Legal Project Management: Serve as the primary contact for external legal advisors and services, coordinating all interactions and ensuring that external teams are well‑informed and aligned with QEWC's legal strategies.

Litigation & Legal Project Management: Lead specific legal projects or initiatives as directed by the General Counsel, including managing cross‑departmental teams, overseeing timelines, and ensuring deliverables meet strategic goals.

Strategy Formulation, Implementation and Planning: Develop and direct the implementation of the department strategy ensuring alignment to divisional strategy, QEWC’s vision, mission and corporate objectives.

Strategy Formulation, Implementation and Planning: Ensure that department strategy and related strategic plans are developed and implemented, which are aligned with the vision and mission of the organisation.

Strategy Formulation, Implementation and Planning: Ensure the provision of subject‑matter expertise for the assigned domain and provide counsel to QEWC leadership on all related areas to facilitate the achievement of QEWC’s strategy and divisional strategies.

Leadership: Manage the effective achievement of departmental objectives through effective leadership and by setting individual objectives, managing performance, developing and motivating team to maximise performance.

Leadership: Lead the talent development initiatives for the assigned department, collaborating with discipline experts and thereby ensuring the availability of talent to fit business requirements.

Budgeting and Financial Performance: Oversee the consolidation and recommend the department budget and monitor financial performance versus the budget so that the business is aware of anticipated costs/revenues, areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified, and potential areas of cost reduction or streamed performance improvement opportunities are capitalised upon.
