Construction Supervisor (Mechanical)
Air Swift is an international workforce solutions provider in the energy, process, and infrastructure sectors. Air Swift is seeking a Construction Supervisor (Mechanical) to work in Qatar with a major Oil & Gas Company.
Qualifications- Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from an internationally recognized university.
- Preferably formal training in QA/QC functional aspects.
- Excellent written and oral English skills.
- Strong organizational, planning and coordination skills.
- Proficient knowledge of MS Office, Outlook, Excel, Word, PDF, PowerPoint and engineering software relevant to the discipline.
- Minimum 10 years overall experience in static and rotating equipment installation, including inspection coordination in construction of midstream/downstream Oil & Gas facilities.
- Experience as an EPIC Contractor supervisor is essential;
Client or PMC supervisor experience preferred. - Current experience in State of Qatar industrial cities and/or other GCC countries is required.
- Experience in coating systems and procedures (painting, galvanizing, wrapping, insulation, refractory lining) and in coating‑related inspections.
- Experience in static and rotating equipment installation, FAT, alignment, inspection, punch list clearing, pressure testing, pre‑commissioning and mechanical completion inspections.
- Experience in greenfield/new‑build construction sites and brownfield/live process plants.
- Experience in permits of work including Isolation/Lock‑Out/Tag‑Out of live services, tie‑in to live facilities and testing & integration to existing systems.
- Experience in stage inspection and testing of construction activities as per approved ITPs; extensive knowledge in lifting plans and crane studies.
- Approval of lifting supervisor certificate advantageous.
- Strong technical, prioritization and management skills.
- Good communication, influencing and interface skills.
- Ability to read equipment layout, mechanical drawings, P&IDs and manufacturer instructions.
- Experience with ANSI, API, ASME, ISO, NFPA, SHELL DEP codes & standards.
- Mechanical inspector certificates (API 510 & API 653) advantageous.
- Liaise with the HSE Supervisor on safety‑related matters and act as safety leader on site.
- Report to the Discipline Construction Lead/Senior Construction Supervisor on key issues, site events, progress, trends and improvement recommendations.
- Assist functional supervisor in reviewing/approving construction documentation including Method Statements, JHAs, MARs and participate in HSE walkthroughs.
- Supervise EPIC contractor static & rotating equipment inspection and installation activities in line with approved engineering documentation and project schedules.
- Attend Requests for Inspection (RFIs) per approved ITPs including material receiving inspections in coordination with Lead Construction Supervisor, sign off relevant reports.
- Ensure quality of manufacturing and erection works: dimensional accuracy, correct orientation and compliance with material design specifications.
- Lead contractors on all mechanical aspects related to static and rotating equipment installation works.
- Supervise EPIC contractors during execution of FAT, alignment inspection, punch clearing, pressure testing, pre‑commissioning and reinstatement activities.
- Manage and lead final mechanical completion inspections and punch closure activities.
- Supervise pre‑commissioning activities to ensure safety and quality standards are achieved.
- Lead site inspection activities with vendors/suppliers; participate in PSSR and support operations during pre‑startup and startup phases when instructed.
- Coordinate contractor mobilization at site.
- Perform daily checks on contractor personnel and previous day work to ensure compliance with contractual specifications.
- Apply knowledge in reading & interpreting P&IDs, GA, structural drawings, mechanical drawings and manufacturer manuals/recommendations.
- Maintain a daily progress log (site diary), highlight key observations; report anomalies or contractual deviations to Senior Supervisor and recommend corrective actions.
- Sign work permits and ensure contractor compliance with permit requirements.
- Participate in development of as‑built drawings and documentation.
- Supervise ongoing contractor work, inspect activities, report issues and prevent incidents by enforcing safety standards.
- Liaise and coordinate with QA/QC Inspectors on all quality‑related matters.
