Head of Media Institute Operations

Position at Al Jazeera Media Network. Head of Media Institute Operations will lead the AJMI Operations section within Network Operations, overseeing the operational, technical, and facility support services required for the successful delivery of Al Jazeera Media Institute training programmes, workshops, conferences, events, and media development initiatives.

Reports directly to the Director of Network Operations and is responsible for the strategic leadership and operational management of the institute's technical and operational functions. The role ensures the effective planning, delivery, and continuous improvement of operational services, technical support, facilities management, resource planning, and training operations.

As the Head of Media Institutes Operations you will be accountable for maintaining a high-performing operational environment that enables the successful delivery of learning programmes, practical training, live productions, and special events while ensuring operational excellence, service quality, compliance, and the efficient utilisation of people, facilities, and technical resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the day‑to‑day operations of AJMI training facilities, studios, control rooms, editing suites, classrooms, theatres, and learning environments.
  • Ensure operational readiness and availability of technical systems, production facilities, training equipment, audiovisual systems, and event infrastructure.
  • Coordinate operational and technical support for media training programmes, workshops, practical exercises, simulations, and hands‑on learning activities.
  • Support the delivery of training programmes covering television production, directing, journalism, camera operations, lighting, sound, editing, digital media, and related media disciplines.
  • Oversee operational support for conferences, seminars, forums, workshops, media summits, and special events hosted by AJMI.
  • Manage facility bookings, resource scheduling, and utilisation planning to support training and operational requirements.
  • Coordinate technical support for live demonstrations, training productions, remote learning activities, and media development programmes.
  • Ensure effective operation and readiness of theatre facilities, video wall systems, presentation technologies, production equipment, and training platforms.
  • Coordinate with Engineering and Technology teams regarding maintenance, upgrades, lifecycle planning, fault resolution, and technical support activities.
  • Maintain operational documentation, equipment inventories, asset records, and facility utilisation reports.
  • Identify and implement operational improvements that enhance training delivery support, service quality, resource utilisation, and facility effectiveness.
  • Prepare operational performance, utilisation, and service reports for management review.
Other Responsibilities
  • Support strategic development initiatives and future expansion of AJMI facilities and services.
  • Participate in planning and delivery of major AJMI events, conferences, and special projects.
  • Contribute to technology evaluation, operational improvement, and service enhancement initiatives.
  • Support budgeting, procurement, and resource planning activities.
Education
  • Bachelor Degree in Media, Communications, Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering, Data Analytics, or related field. Postgraduate qualifications in a related field are preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in broadcast operations, media production support, training facilities management, technical operations, event operations, or related environments.
  • Minimum 3 years should have been in a leadership, standards, or supervisory role.
