Vacancy Overview
Construction Supervisor (Instrument).
Work location:
Qatar, major Oil & Gas Company.
- Degree from a recognized university or a diploma in Instrumentation, Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
- Extensive construction‑related experience.
- Strong skills in construction management, effective communication and conflict resolution.
- Relevant courses in HSE, QAQC and Construction.
- Minimum 15 years overall E&I experience in construction installation, pre‑commissioning and commissioning in the oil and gas industries, including large‑scale solar (photovoltaic) projects.
- Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, P&IDs and control system layouts for accurate implementation.
- Ability to supervise and manage installation of instrumentation and control systems, including sensors, transmitters, PLCs, SCADA and other relevant equipment.
- Experience with construction project management, overseeing installation, testing and commissioning of Instrumentation & Control systems within project timelines.
- Knowledge of construction industry best practices, systems, processes and standards.
- Experience in pre‑commissioning and commissioning of oil and gas facilities at a supervisory level.
- Supervise EPIC contractors during construction activities on site.
- Review detailed design drawings, method statements, material requisitions and related documentation.
- Co‑ordinate mobilization, de‑mobilisation and overall contractor activities.
- Approve construction activities and coordinate inspections, material submissions, working drawings and required documentation.
- Conduct daily checks on contractor staff and work to ensure compliance with contractual specifications.
- Handle all aspects of Electrical/Instrument construction activities, including site investigations and surveys.
- Supervise and manage earthing works, cable tray installation, fire alarm system cable laying and termination works.
- Coordinate finalising of cable entries, routes and diversions.
- Supervise fibre optic cable installation and splicing.
- Supervise installation of fire alarm control panels, repeater panels and mimic panels.
- Supervise installation of control junction boxes and panels.
- Read and understand equipment layout drawings.
- Coordinate with mechanical works, HVAC, fire alarm, loss prevention system and building services.
- Perform cable termination and loop checking.
- Coordinate pre‑commissioning activities and assist during commissioning.
- Initiate mechanical completion certificates (MCC), hand‑over certificates (HOC), acceptance certificates (AC) and facilitate project completion & discharge certificates.
- Witness SAT pre‑commissioning activities for equipment.
- Maintain a daily record of progress, noting special comments.
- Report anomalies or contractual deviations to the supervisor and recommend corrective actions.
- Sign work permits on behalf of the company and ensure contractor compliance.
- Participate in the development of as‑built drawings and documentation.
- Prepare punch lists for finished work before hand‑over, with special attention to ELV equipment and quality checks.
- Work closely with other Company Construction Supervisors (Mechanical/Electrical).
