Training Technician – Water

We are seeking a Training Technician – Water to support the delivery of practical technical training by preparing and maintaining laboratory equipment, tools, and training facilities. The successful candidate will ensure laboratory readiness, maintain water treatment equipment and instruments, and assist trainers during practical sessions while ensuring compliance with safety and maintenance standards.

Requirements & Qualifications:

Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in water treatment plants, utilities, laboratory operations, equipment maintenance, or technical training support.
Education:
  • Diploma or Higher Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Water Technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • Higher Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is an advantage.
Technical

Skills:
  • Knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance of laboratory and mechanical equipment.
  • Hands‑on experience with pumps, valves, pipelines, flowmeters, and water treatment systems.
  • Ability to calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair laboratory instruments and monitoring equipment.
  • Good understanding of laboratory safety practices and equipment handling procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of maintenance documentation and equipment record keeping.
Mandatory Criteria:
  • Experience supporting laboratory operations or technical training environments.
  • Ability to maintain laboratory equipment and respond to equipment failures efficiently.
  • Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining high safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain custody of laboratory equipment, tools, instruments, and training materials.
  • Prepare laboratory equipment, tools, and practical training materials before each training session.
  • Support trainers and lecturers during laboratory practical sessions, demonstrations, and trainee assessments.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, routine servicing, and minor repairs on laboratory equipment and machinery.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, leaks, and emergency maintenance requirements.
  • Operate, inspect, and maintain pumps, valves, flowmeters, pipelines, and water treatment equipment.
  • Calibrate, troubleshoot, modify, and repair laboratory instruments, recorders, and water quality monitoring equipment.
  • Ensure laboratory facilities comply with safety, housekeeping, and operational standards.
  • Maintain maintenance logs, calibration records, equipment inventories, and related documentation.
  • Assist in setting up laboratory experiments and ensuring training resources are available and operational at all times.
