- Designing furniture, cabinets, shelving units, and other items using computer-aided design (CAD) software
- Measuring, cutting, shaping, assembling, and joining materials such as wood, metal or plastic to create furniture products as per customer requirements
- Installing fixtures such as shelves or doors into pre-prepared openings
- Finishing products by sanding them down, filling gaps or blemishes with putty or wood glue
- Excellent knowledge of carpentry techniques
- Knowledge of safety regulations in the workplace
- Ability to read technical drawings to produce items accurately
- Attention to detail and good hand-eye coordination
- Ability to use hand tools as well as power tools
