The Fire Curtain Technician is responsible for the installation, testing, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of fire and smoke curtain systems in accordance with project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and applicable fire safety standards. The role involves close coordination with fire alarm technicians, MEP teams, engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure proper system operation, compliance, and reliable performance.
Key Responsibilities- Install fire and smoke curtain systems, including curtain assemblies, control panels, motors, guides, sensors, and associated components.
- Conduct routine inspection, testing, servicing, and preventive maintenance of fire curtain systems.
- Perform functional and drop tests to verify proper deployment and reset operation.
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, control, and sensor‑related faults.
- Repair or replace defective motors, control units, batteries, sensors, wiring, brackets, and other components.
- Inspect curtain fabric, guides, housings, rollers, fixings, and associated hardware for damage or deterioration.
- Carry out commissioning and handover testing of newly installed systems.
- Verify system interfaces with fire alarm systems, smoke detection systems, BMS, emergency power supplies, and other building safety systems where applicable.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, manufacturer manuals, and installation specifications.
- Maintain accurate service, inspection, testing, and repair records.
- Prepare service reports and communicate identified defects and recommended corrective actions.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with approved procedures, risk assessments, method statements, and applicable safety requirements.
- Coordinate with fire alarm technicians, electricians, MEP teams, contractors, and client representatives when required.
- Attend emergency breakdowns and respond to system faults within agreed response times.
- Maintain tools, testing equipment, spare parts, and personal protective equipment in good condition.
- Support audits, authority inspections, and certification activities as required.
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in installation, testing, commissioning, or maintenance of fire curtain or fire/life‑safety systems.
