Firefighting Technician## 1.
Job Summary The Firefighting Technician is responsible for the installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of firefighting and fire protection systems at oil and gas facilities. The role ensures that all firefighting equipment and systems are maintained in safe working condition and comply with project specifications, safety standards, and applicable industry regulations.## 2.
Key Responsibilities
* Install, inspect, test, maintain, and repair firefighting systems and equipment.
* Perform maintenance on fire hydrants, fire hose reels, fire extinguishers, fire pumps, sprinkler systems, and deluge systems.
* Assist in the installation and maintenance of fire alarm and detection systems, including smoke detectors, heat detectors, and manual call points.
* Inspect firefighting pipelines, valves, fittings, nozzles, and related accessories for leaks, damage, and operational issues.
* Carry out functional testing of fire pumps, jockey pumps, and associated firefighting equipment.
* Troubleshoot faults in firefighting systems and perform corrective maintenance.
* Read and interpret engineering drawings, piping layouts, equipment manuals, and installation diagrams.
* Conduct routine preventive maintenance and maintain inspection and service records.
* Ensure firefighting systems are operational and ready for emergency response.
* Follow Permit to Work (PTW), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and other site safety procedures.
* Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and other maintenance teams to complete assigned tasks.
* Comply with company HSE policies, site regulations, and applicable NFPA standards and project specifications.
* Report equipment defects, unsafe conditions, and maintenance requirements to the supervisor.## 3. Qualifications and Experience
* ITI, Diploma, or equivalent technical qualification in Mechanical, Fire & Safety, or a related discipline.
* Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in firefighting systems maintenance within the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Industrial sector.
* Practical experience with fire protection systems, fire pumps, hydrants, sprinklers, deluge systems, and firefighting equipment.
* Knowledge of firefighting system testing, inspection, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
* Ability to read technical drawings, equipment manuals, and system layouts.
* Familiarity with PTW systems, risk assessments, and industrial HSE requirements.
* Oil & Gas site experience is preferred.
Preferred Experience:
Candidates with hands-on experience in Oil & Gas plants, refineries, petrochemical facilities, LNG plants, and other industrial projects.
