Clean Harbors in Dolton, IL is seeking a Class B CDL Environmental Field Chemist (Clean Pack Chemist) to handle, segregate, pack, and inspect chemical waste in accordance with Federal/State/Local regulations and company policies. This customer‑facing position operates at plants, labs, and customer sites, including household hazardous waste collections and lab moves. The role is not laboratory‑based.
Base pay range$14.00/hr – $39.00/hr

- Prepare computer‑generated packing lists, labels, manifests, and land disposal restriction notifications.
- Inspect staging, accumulation, and storage areas for proper housekeeping and compliance.
- Inspect drums for leaks, spills, and labeling compliance.
- Collect, segregate, and properly package waste chemicals for disposal.
- Execute jobs at Clean Harbors customer locations, including Fortune 500 companies.
- Prepare and approve all projects before shipment in accordance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and company policies.
- Conduct projects/jobs according to site‑specific federal, state, and local regulations and health and safety plans.
- Understand customer‑specific disposal restrictions and special packaging requirements.
- Sample and profile new waste streams or waste requiring analytical testing.
- Ensure drum count is correct and drums are shippable per company policy.
- Follow all local, state, provincial, and federal compliance regulations.
- Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT and related requirements.
- Observe all corporate operating guidelines and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Valid Class B CDL.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Obtain hazmat and tanker endorsements within 90 days of employment.
- Perform physical functions required by the job.
- Successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical exam.
- Meet respirator facial hair standards per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.34.
- College degree in Chemistry or Natural Science.
- Previous experience in environmental services (remediation, abatement, emergency spill response, etc.).
