We are looking for dedicated Residential Child Care Officers to join a growing residential service within Doncaster Council. This is a demanding yet deeply rewarding role within a supportive environment where you will help provide stability, advocacy and care to children and young people who need it most. We have opportunities available across the residential provision, including homes supporting young people with complex behaviours and Short Break homes supporting children and young people with disabilities or complex health needs.
You will build meaningful relationships with children and young people helping them develop confidence, independence and life skills within a stable home environment.
This is a permanent position offering an annual salary of £28,132 along with enhancements for sleep‑in shifts which are paid at £43.12 per shift and an overtime rate of time and a quarter for anything above 37 hours. The rota is set at least 4 weeks in advance and you will receive 2 weekends off out of 4.
Duties of the role- Provide a warm, caring and enabling environment
- Meet the emotional, social and physical needs of looked‑after children and young people
- Support children who may present with complex or challenging behaviours
- Advocate for children and model a positive “good parent” role
- Work within the home's ethos and Statement of Purpose
- Contribute to a safe, structured and supportive residential service
- A genuine passion for working with children and young people
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Resilience and flexibility to work a rota including weekends and unsocial hours
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare
- Experience or transferable skills supporting young people with complex behaviours
