Salary details:
Grade 9, 42,123 - 46,579 plus 8.5% all inclusive allowance

Contract Type:
Permanent, Full Time

Hours: 37 hours per week

Are you an experienced residential childcare professional looking to take the next step in your leadership career?

We are seeking a passionate and motivated Deputy Manager to support the leadership and management of our Children's Residential Home. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a nurturing, therapeutic, and supportive environment where children and young people can feel safe, valued, and empowered to achieve their full potential.

Working closely with the Registered Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring high standards of care, safeguarding, and compliance while leading and inspiring a dedicated team.

As Deputy Manager, you will:

  • Assist in the effective day-to-day management of the home.
  • Lead, motivate, and support residential care staff to deliver exceptional care and support.
  • Promote positive outcomes for children and young people through high-quality care planning and practice.
  • Ensure the home operates in line with Children's Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, and safeguarding procedures.
  • Develop positive relationships with children, families, social workers, education providers, and other professionals.
  • Support recruitment, induction, supervision, and development of staff.
  • Monitor practice, records, and performance to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in the on-call rota and deputise for the Registered Manager when required.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement and child-centred care.

You will be a caring, resilient, and effective leader who is passionate about improving the lives of children and young people.

You will have:

  • Experience working within a children's residential care setting.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience.
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and trauma-informed practice.
  • The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with children and young people.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.

    The confidence to make decisions and lead a team during challenging situations.
  • A commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion. Essential Requirements Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
  • Working towards, or willing to undertake, the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.
  • Experience supporting children and young people with emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Knowledge of Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.
  • Full UK driving licence (desirable/essential as appropriate).
