Location:

Doncaster

Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off (6:00pm – 6:30am)

Salary: £56,160 – £60,000 per annum

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a skilled HGV Technician to join a busy and well-equipped workshop in Doncaster. This role offers the chance to work within a professional fleet operation, carrying out high-quality maintenance and repair work while contributing to overall workshop efficiency and compliance standards.

You will be responsible for ensuring vehicles are serviced, maintained, and repaired to the highest standards, meeting both operational and regulatory requirements.

The Role of a HGV Technician

Reporting to the Head of Operations (Doncaster VMU), you will carry out service and repair work efficiently and competently, ensuring all tasks are completed within standard times wherever possible and to the required level of quality.

Key Responsibilities of the HGV Technician
  • Service, maintain, and repair HGVs and associated components using appropriate tools and equipment
  • Carry out routine and preventative maintenance inspections in line with Operator Licence requirements
  • Accurately record defects and completed work using workshop IT systems and statutory documentation
  • Complete all job cards and service/inspection sheets clearly and correctly
  • Use PC-based diagnostic equipment to identify faults and clear fault codes
  • Road test vehicles before and after repair work to confirm roadworthiness
  • Follow parts ordering procedures, warranty claims processes, and exchange item protocols
  • Deliver high standards of workmanship to meet operational and customer expectations
  • Handle all vehicles, workshop tools, and equipment with care and attention
  • Comply fully with health & safety and environmental procedures, reporting hazards or incidents appropriately
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation within the workshop
  • Conduct yourself professionally at all times and support colleagues where required
About You
  • City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 qualified technician OR time served
  • Experience in vehicle maintenance and repair (HGV preferred)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Strong awareness of health & safety requirements
