About the Role

You’ll help keep our nation moving every single day.

A critical part of the work we do is the daily upkeep of the rail network. As a technician you’ll work outdoors in a team, supporting essential maintenance to keep the railway running safely and smoothly for passengers and freight users.

Our technician community comes from a variety of different backgrounds, and this might be the first time that you’ve even considered a career in rail. Please Note: There may be a requirement to work on call in this role if you opt to take the standard maintenance contract.

Your Experience And Skills Who are we looking for?

Enthusiastic, well‑motivated, Electrical and/or Mechanical Tradespersons with recognised time served apprenticeship.

Bags of experience is not required as excellent on the job training is provided. What’s most important is the right attitude. If you have bags of experience, then that’s a bonus.

You will be a team player who is able to work effectively within diverse teams.

You will have a strong commitment to working safely and required safety rules and procedures.

You will have stamina and flexibility and be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and varied shifts including nights and weekends.

What will you be doing?

You will be out and about across a large geographical area, not stuck in the same place day after day. If you want some variety in scenery from one day to the next, this could be for you.

You will be working on a huge variety of electrical and mechanical equipment and installations. Just a few:
High Voltage switch gear and control systems;
Standby generators (up to 500kvA); UPS systems;
Outdoor high mast lighting;
Heat…
