The Trust's Maintenance Team provides a fully comprehensive estate maintenance service to all relevant buildings across all locations in use by Trust staff.
If you don't already have a Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant subject, RDaSH are offering this post alongside the opportunity for you to complete a Level 3 apprenticeship qualification relevant to your role.
As an apprentice within RDaSH you will be given the opportunity to gain experience, learn work‑related skills and obtain all the tools needed to thrive.
An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. Around 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying. This leads to a nationally recognised qualification.

Main duties of the jobYour role will be to undertake a range of unsupervised routine maintenance and minor repair works which do not require the attention of a fully qualified crafts person, assist with installation work and carry out basic tasks of other trades.
Person Specification Qualifications- English and Maths at level 2 or equivalent (GCSE 94‑ or A*‑C or functional skills level
2) - NVQ Level 2 in a related subject or equivalent or willingness to undertake a relevant Level 2 Apprenticeship (Property maintenance operative Level
2) - Training in the safe use of tools and equipment and in safe working procedures
- To undertake training and development to increase knowledge and understanding of the basis of all building trades
- Experience in carrying out a range of basic building maintenance work
- Experience in testing of fire alarms or willingness to be trained
- Experience of testing of emergency lighting or willingness to be trained
- Experience of undertaking oxygen bottle changes or willingness to be trained
- Experience of a wide variety of building maintenance work and PPM maintenance tasks such as AHU filter changes
- Experience of working in a healthcare environment
- Awareness of basic works and safety in relation to NHS buildings
- Health and Safety, COSHH, Working at Heights
- Manual Handling, Working in Confined Spaces
- Oral and written communication skills
- Able to prioritise and organise own workload
- Able to work effectively as part of a team
- Able to travel within the geographical work area in a timely and effective manner
- Able to work additional hours as the needs of the service dictate and expected to respond to a recall to work request to deal with urgent matters should it be necessary
