Starting pay: £13.45 per hour
Potential pay:
Up to £14.74 per hour
Hours:
6:30am–5:00pm, Monday to Thursday
Contract:
Full-time, permanent
Pay Progression
The position starts at £13.45 per hour. A performance-based pay review will take place, with the opportunity to progress to £14.74 per hour which is possible within the first six months, subject to performance and demonstrated ability.
The Role
We are recruiting a practical and reliable Panel Van Fitter to join a growing commercial vehicle conversion business in Doncaster.
You will fit racking systems, access steps, tow bars, warning beacons and other specialist equipment to panel vans. This position would suit someone with experience in vehicle fitting, mechanical assembly, commercial vehicle conversions, coach building, fabrication or another hands-on environment.
Candidates with strong practical skills and a willingness to learn may also be considered.
Responsibilities
* Fit racking and storage systems inside panel vans.
* Install access steps, tow bars and vehicle accessories.
* Fit warning beacons and associated equipment.
* Measure and mark vehicles accurately before installation.
* Drill, bolt, fasten and secure components safely.
* Use hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment.
* Follow fitting instructions, drawings and specifications.
* Complete basic mechanical and electrical fitting tasks.
* Check that fitted equipment is secure and operates correctly.
* Identify and report damaged or incorrect components.
* Maintain consistently high standards of workmanship.
* Keep the workshop clean, organised and safe.
* Follow health and safety procedures at all times.
* Support other vehicle-conversion work when required.
Requirements
* Previous vehicle fitting, mechanical assembly or installation experience is desirable.
* Practical experience using hand and power tools.
* Able to measure, drill and fit components accurately.
* Good mechanical understanding and problem-solving ability.
* Strong attention to detail and quality.
* Comfortable working independently and as part of a workshop team.
* Reliable and able to meet production deadlines.
* Experience fitting vehicle accessories would be advantageous.
* A full UK driving licence would be beneficial.
