Description

Child Development Manager responsible for facilitating cohesion among regions, revising program services, developing systematic reporting and monitoring, maintaining best practices, and collaborating with staff to develop comprehensive work plans. Designs child development programs, ensures lesson plans meet developmental practices, manages classroom supplies and inventory, coordinates transportation, supports early intervention, conducts home visits and CLASS observations, tracks services, interprets child observation data, provides parent education, oversees transitions to kindergarten, prepares reports, attends meetings, and performs other duties as assigned.

Compensation

Base Salary: $54,901.13 per year.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Facilitate cohesiveness and structure among regions, establishing communication protocols for Program Area Services.
  • Revise Program Service Area in conjunction with other staff, including policies, procedures, forms, manuals, and submit recommendations to the Regional and Child Development Director.
  • Develop systematic reporting, tracking, and monitoring of program services with input from other managers.
  • Maintain best practices across regions by adhering to stringent program requirements when possible.
  • In coordination with staff, develop a comprehensive workplan for Infant/Toddler and Pre‑School services, offering training and technical assistance to Child Development Coordinators and other personnel.
  • Design and implement a Child Development Program that includes a School Readiness Plan, updates the manual, selects appropriate curricula, and establishes documentation processes that capture child progress.
  • Develop and maintain a School Readiness Advisory Committee with representation from parents, staff, board members, schools, and higher institutions.
  • Ensure all lesson plans and classroom environments address individualized needs and conform to Developmentally Appropriate Practices, evidenced through CLASS review.
  • Manage the purchase of developmentally appropriate supplies, equipment, and implement inventory measures.
  • Collaborate with management to ensure adequate supplies and appropriate transportation for young children.
  • Assist classroom staff in maintaining an annual inventory of materials and supplies.
  • Coordinate with Early Intervention personnel to address the needs of children with disabilities and implement transitional activities.
  • Attend home visits, parent conferences, and IEP/IFSP meetings as requested.
  • Conduct monthly CLASS observations and provide teaching assistance and professional development.
  • Track Child Development services, ensuring education services are performed within time frames per policy and Head Start standards.
  • Help educators interpret observation data and establish appropriate individual child goals.
  • Facilitate parent education on home learning activities, family nights, and volunteer opportunities.
  • Assist with transitions of Head Start children to kindergarten and manage transitions for children entering or exiting Early Head Start.
  • Collaborate with Regional Management in gathering, compiling, analyzing, and interpreting data for community assessments, program reports, proposals, and other reporting requirements.
  • Obtain feedback and approval on program requirements from policy groups and parents in accordance with Head Start regulations.
  • Assist in developing and implementing a comprehensive Child Development Training and Technical Assistance Plan, ensuring training is completed before staff begins duties.
  • Conduct regular center visits to assess program implementation and provide assistance as necessary.
  • Prepare monthly and annual reports, analyze data, and compile year‑end Program Information Reports.
  • Attend meetings, seminars, and workshops.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • At least 3 years of experience in an Early Childhood Education program setting with demonstrated training skills.
  • Ability to communicate in both English and Spanish.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
