Summary
Assist bilingual program students attain bilingualism and biliteracy in the partner language as well as English. Enable EB students to develop literacy and academic skills through the integrated use of content-based language instructional methods to become proficient in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in the home or partner language and English. Support EB students in the mastery of grade level reading and language arts knowledge and skills in the home or partner language and in English, along with mathematics, science, and social studies knowledge and skills.
Provide ongoing instruction in literacy and academic content through content-based language instruction in both bilingual program languages. Continuously address the affective, linguistic, and cognitive needs of EB students.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree from accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
Bilingual or ESL Certification (secondary) according to assignment
Special Knowledge/
Skills:
Demonstrate proficiency of Spanish and English commensurate to grade level and subject assignment
Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
Knowledge of curriculum and instructional best practice for content-based language instruction/sheltered instruction
Knowledge of Commissioner's Rules (Chapter 89) Adaptations for Special Populations
Knowledge of English Language Proficiency Standards
Strong knowledge of Internet and web-related technology
Ability to instruct students using a variety of technology applications and platforms Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to develop relationships and maintain consistent contact with student, parents, and colleagues Ability to support students with computer set-up, navigation, and technology issues
Experience:
Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience Experience working with emergent bilingual students (preferred)

Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Strategies
* Develop and implement lesson plans for learning that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as Prepare lessons that reflect linguistic accommodations for differences in individual emergent bilingual students. Follow the Emergent Bilingual instructional framework/model during lesson planning and instruction.
* Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of emergent bilingual students assigned and present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
* Conduct assessment of emergent bilingual students' learning styles and use results to plan instructional
* Work cooperatively with special education teachers and teachers of other special programs (SpEd, 504, MTSS, GT, Migrant, etc… to modify curricula as needed for emergent bilingual special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP), 504 plans, and/or MTSS plans.
* Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district
* Plan and assign work to instructional aide(s) and volunteer(s) and oversee
Student Growth and Development
* Provide timely feedback to emergent bilingual students and track progress (proficiency, literacy, and academics in both program languages) through a variety of
* Conduct ongoing assessment and feedback related to emergent bilingual student achievement through formal and informal
* Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
* Be a positive role model for emergent bilingual students and support the goals of the campus and school
* Exhibit the willingness to support and ensure the success of emergent bilingual students in the Emergent Bilingual
Classroom Management and Organization
* Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of emergent bilingual
* Manage emergent bilingual student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student
* Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect emergent bilingual students, equipment, materials, and
* Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional
* Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents
Communication
* Be available by phone, email, or video conferencing to confer with district personnel, emergent bilingual students, and/or
* Communicate with emergent bilingual students or parents on a regular basis via phone or video conference, email, or…
