Job Title:
Patient Access Representative

Classification: Non-Exempt
Pay: 18-22/hr
Position OverviewThe Patient Access Representative creates a welcoming experience for patients and visitors while delivering exceptional customer service. This role is responsible for collecting and verifying demographic, financial, and insurance information to ensure accurate billing, securing necessary consents, and managing provider schedules.
Key Responsibilities- Scheduling & Registration:
Maintain appointments for new and established patients, schedule follow-ups, and proactively adjust for cancellations or provider schedule changes. - Data Verification:
Collect and verify patient demographics, insurance coverage, and emergency contacts while requesting identification to prevent insurance fraud. - Financial Processing:
Determine applicable co-pays and deductibles via eligibility searches and collect financial obligations prior to or at the time of service. - re-Visit Preparation:
Vet provider schedules in advance to ensure insurance eligibility, appointment confirmation, and pre-visit registration are complete. - Operations & Compliance:
Maintain a clean work environment, observe safety policies, answer routine inquiries, and cross-train to support other departments as needed.
- Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. - Experience:
Minimum 12 months of customer service experience required; 2-3 years of medical front office experience preferred. - Skills:
Excellent communication and phone etiquette, basic mathematical skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Schedule:
Full-time position. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Occasional extended hours (11:00 AM – 8:00 PM) and Saturdays (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM) may be required based on operational needs. - Travel:
Requires travel between multiple locations within metro Atlanta. - Physical Demands:
Frequent walking, standing, and sitting; ability to lift 10–25 lbs; and coordinated use of hands/vision. - Environment:
Healthcare setting involving regular walking and potential exposure to contagious illnesses.
