My client, a manufacturing company, is looking for a Process Improvement Project Assistant Plant Manager.

They are located in Doraville and will be on site 5 days a week.

Continuous Improvement / Production Engineering Project Lead

This role drives operational excellence and continuous improvement in a chemical manufacturing environment while supporting plant-level engineering projects. The position serves as a development pathway to Production Engineer or Plant Manager and requires a strong blend of lean manufacturing expertise, project management, and hands‑on process optimization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and value stream mapping to enhance production efficiency, quality, and cost performance.
  • Manage cross‑functional projects to design, install, and optimize manufacturing systems, including filling, mixing, conveying, and packaging operations.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and performance reviews to identify inefficiencies and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Support implementation of automation, data collection systems, barcoding, and electronic batch records to improve process visibility and control.
  • Partner with supply chain, quality, and operations teams to improve scheduling, KPI tracking, and overall plant performance.
  • Assist with implementation of facility and process improvements (e.g., cleaning systems, material handling, labeling, and production tracking systems).
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements (OSHA, RCRA, DOT Hazmat, EPA).
  • Contribute to quality management systems and technical documentation, including standard operating procedures and reports.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 5–15 years of experience in industrial manufacturing, preferably in batch chemical processing and packaging.
  • Lean and/or Six Sigma certification with demonstrated application experience.
  • Strong project management and analytical skills, with experience leading cross‑functional teams.
  • Knowledge of industrial automation, instrumentation, and basic electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with regulated environments (e.g., aerospace, chemical manufacturing) and quality systems.
  • Working knowledge of safety and environmental regulations (OSHA, RCRA, DOT Hazmat, EPA).
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
