The Assistant Manager assists and consults the Store Manager regarding overall store operations and administrative duties. The role involves determining methods and approaches to achieve store goals, applying expertise in each product area, upholding store policies and standards, delivering outstanding customer service, promoting merchandise, and assuming supervisory control in the Store Manager’s absence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist the Store Manager in controlling the assets of Hibbett I City Gear.
- Consult with the Store Manager to establish action plans for selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
- Assume responsibility for the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Assist in overall personnel recruiting, training, and evaluation.
- Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers across all departments.
- Maintain awareness of inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability.
- Direct staff to meet departmental responsibilities and standards.
- Inform the Store Manager of inventory movement and customer trends.
- Ensure quality customer service is maintained.
- Perform general administrative duties as needed and be trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities.
- Deliver exceptional customer service, including helping customers when they enter the store and during peak periods.
- Promote and sell services and merchandise offered by Hibbett I City Gear.
- Practice and uphold all company policies, procedures, and standards as listed in the operations policy manual, personnel policy manual, visual manual, customer service manual, and company memos.
- Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring accurate internal controls and reporting potential fraud risks.
Supervise employees in the absence of the Store Manager. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, training, assigning, directing work, and resolving problems.
Qualifications- Experience working in a retail environment, preferably in footwear or athletic apparel.
- 1-3 years of customer service experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to assist in managing a team and achieve overall goals and profits.
- Self‑starter with initiative to undertake important tasks without prompting.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Team player, passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.
