Security Systems Installation, Installation Technician, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Responsibilities
Install complex integrated security systems, including wiring, equipment, and programming of access control systems, CCTV, digital recorders, network recorders, and intercom systems for clients.
Use electronic test equipment to troubleshoot problems during installation.
Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems programs, schematics, and operational product manuals.
Readjust, repair, or replace inoperative equipment and test for operation.
Perform system checks for proper operation.
Plan, organize, and prioritize work with close attention to detail.
Communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
Analyze information and work unsupervised to complete installation jobs.
Complete and submit all necessary paperwork related to job assignments.
Use hand and power tools to mount and secure equipment.
Feed cables through access holes, roof spaces, and cavity walls to reach fixture outlets; position and terminate cables, wires, and strapping.
Drill holes for wiring in wall studs, joists, ceilings, and floors.
Conduct end‑user training.
Isolate trouble to a customer network, where applicable.
Qualifications- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- A+ certification required.
- Significant background (3+ years) in digital and analog camera systems.
- Significant background (3+ years) in access control systems.
- Understanding of the function and design of alarm systems.
- Experience with IP addressable security devices (2+ years).
- Computer literate with advanced TCP/IP networking skills.
- Ability to operate a company truck with an acceptable driving record.
- Proficiency with ADT A.I. core card access and CCTV systems.
- Associate degree or 2‑year technical school program graduate.
- Industry‑recognized apprentice training program may substitute for formal education.
- Specialized training or certification in:
Access Control (at least 3 certifications from Prowatch C-Cure 800, Prowatch C-Cure 9000, Casi‑Facility Commander, Picture Perfect, or Secure Perfect CCTV‑Analog); CCTV‑Analog (at least 1 certification from Bosch, Pelco, American Dynamics, Cisco); CCTV‑IP (at least 1 certification from Genetec, Indigo, Vision); visitor management (experience in Honeywell Lobby Works, Stopware, Access Sentry). - Additional experience: MCSE, CCNA, surveillance systems, intrusion detection systems, perimeter intrusion detection systems, and security gate operators.
