Vi-Mac is a petroleum tanker carrier operating 24/7/365 across the Southeast. We’ve been in business for more than 25 years, move millions of gallons every week, and serve customers who depend on us to keep their locations supplied.

We’re hiring an experienced dispatcher.

This is not an entry-level dispatch position. We’re looking for someone who has already managed tanker operations, driver hours, changing inventories, terminal issues, customer demands, and the hundred other things that can change during a shift.

If your dispatch experience is primarily general freight, this probably isn’t the right seat. Petroleum experience matters here.

If you’ve ever watched a fuel inventory fall faster than your confidence on a Sunday night, you probably understand why.

Build loads and route trucks to keep customer tanks full.

Monitor inventory across every product and every site and plan deliveries ahead of demand, not after a store is already in trouble.

Manage driver Hours of Service so the plan you’re building at 4 PM still works at 2 AM.

Respond to dry runs, runouts, terminal outages, equipment issues, changing customer demand, driver problems, weather, and unexpected operational issues.

Communicate clearly with drivers, terminals, customers, and the rest of our operations team.

And when the plan changes, because it will, build the next one.

Sometimes the rack goes down, a driver runs out of hours, and a customer suddenly discovers they need fuel immediately. Usually all three happen at once.

3+ years dispatching petroleum, chemical, or food-grade tankers.

You should be comfortable managing multiple moving pieces at the same time: inventory, HOS, terminal availability, equipment, customer escalations, drivers, weather, and changing priorities.

Calm under pressure.

We don’t pay you to panic. We pay you to solve. When three things go wrong at once, we expect you to prioritize them and work the problem.

Ownership.

Your name goes on your loads. We use daily dispatcher scorecards to measure performance, identify problems, and continuously improve our operation. You’ll know your numbers and we’ll review them together.

Strong inventory instincts.

If a customer is at 30% on Regular and pulling 4,000 gallons a day, you should already be calculating when the next delivery needs to arrive and what else can fit on the trailer.

If you’re reaching for a calculator for every tank, this seat may be stressful.

Plain communication.

Drivers respect dispatchers who give them clear instructions and back them up. Customers respect dispatchers who tell them the truth. We expect both.

No novels over the radio. No drama. Just clear information.
