Nature Recovery Project Officer

In this role, you’ll help drive the Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) into real action on the ground across Dorset. You’ll help bring together opportunities for partners from local authorities, landowners, farmers, environmental organisations, businesses and community groups to support and deliver nature recovery king across boundaries, you’ll embed the LNRS priorities into planning, land management, investment and infrastructure decisions, while identifying and developing a pipeline of priority projects and helping to unlock funding to make them happen.

You’ll provide ecological input to ensure projects deliver meaningful benefits for habitats, species and ecosystem services, contributing to a more resilient and connected nature network. Alongside this, you’ll support monitoring and reporting to track progress, contribute to communications and engagement to build awareness and participation, and work closely with colleagues, partners and elected members to share knowledge, support projects of all sizes, and help coordinate delivery across the programme.

You’re passionate about nature and driven to make a real difference. You bring a strong understanding of habitats, species and how nature works, combined with the ability to apply that knowledge in a practical, delivery-focused way.

You’re a natural collaborator who enjoys working with a wide range of people - from farmers and landowners to partners and community groups. Confident and persuasive, you can build relationships, influence others and inspire action.

You’re organised, proactive and comfortable managing competing priorities, with the ability to move between big-picture thinking and on-the-ground delivery. Whether developing projects, securing funding, or tracking progress, you’re focused on making things happen.

This is a broad and varied role with lots of challenges and opportunities. You will be a committed, confident, self-starter to help coordinate and support delivery of the Local Nature Recovery Strategy.

You will be driven and want to make a lasting difference, have experience in writing reports and/or strategies as well as delivering successful project that you are proud of.
