Georgia‑Pacific LLC is seeking an Accounting Manager to join our GP Recycling Team in Dothan, AL. You will develop partnerships, manage a team of 5–7 employees, and partner with business leaders to support accounting excellence through process improvements and automation.
What You Will Do In Your Role- Build strong personal and team relationships through managing a team of 5–7 employees
- Partner with employees, peers and business to review current processes for improvement/efficiencies and new business for system fit and best process; involve leading projects and being involved in projects led by others
- Support business and financial planning and analysis team through transactional excellence and decision‑making processes by building strong relationships to understand and anticipate business needs
- Support internal financial control environment by reviewing current processes, identifying gaps and improvement areas, and developing plans as needed
- Provide accounting and financial reporting oversight and supervision to team members
- Review and approve balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure account balances are correct and adequately supported
- Advance the Principle‑Based Management culture by applying and reinforcing the company’s Guiding Principles
- Career experience in an accounting or finance focused role demonstrating a working knowledge of financial accounting principles, the general ledger, intercompany entries, month‑end close, account reconciliation and analysis, and internal financial controls
- Leadership experience leading a team or developing capability in others; you connect people to a larger vision and strategy and keep them motivated and engaged
- Collaboration/contribution mindset: you seek to build working relationships and partner with others to bridge gaps and solve problems
- Transformation focused: you are flexible and able to prioritize your work in a dynamic environment, embrace change, and improve processes
- Confident communicator: you can engage effectively with customers and internal stakeholders via telephone, email, chat, and video calls
- Systems and tools savvy: you have experience with Microsoft Office Suite or Office 365 (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, SharePoint) and a desire to learn multiple accounting systems and tools
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or Business
- Experience with integrated financial systems (INFOR M3 or Infinium preferred)
- Experience with analysis and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, One Stream)
- Developing solid process documentation, SOPs, and promoting best practices
- System implementation, system upgrade, testing and/or reconciling transactions between multiple systems
