We are seeking an experienced and motivated Tax Manager to join our growing public accounting team. This position is responsible for managing tax engagements, reviewing complex tax returns, providing tax planning and consulting services, and mentoring professional staff. The ideal candidate is a licensed CPA with strong technical expertise, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional client service.
Responsibilities- Manage and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, estates, and nonprofit organizations.
- Conduct tax research and provide practical planning strategies for clients.
- Serve as a trusted advisor by communicating tax matters clearly and proactively.
- Manage multiple client engagements while ensuring deadlines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
- Review work papers and returns for accuracy and compliance.
- Respond to tax notices and assist with examinations and agency correspondence.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop staff accountants and senior accountants.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and technical guidance to team members.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through responsive, professional service.
- Identify opportunities to expand client services and support firm growth.
- Participate in process improvements, quality initiatives, and business development activities.
- Active CPA license required.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Five or more years of public accounting tax experience preferred.
- Experience reviewing complex individual and business tax returns.
- Previous experience supervising staff and managing client engagements.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state tax laws and regulations.
- Proficiency with tax preparation software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
