Job Overview

Insurance Product Management experience is required. As a product manager, you will be accountable for the P&L of the American Family Insurance enterprise Workers Compensation Product, supporting and managing product performance in market via analysis and insights. You will research solutions to improve profitability, growth, and customer experience, creating insights from customer, market, and competitor intelligence, and proactively monitoring market trends.

Your work will deliver solutions that improve product through contract language, underwriting rules/guidelines, system/platform, automation, and use of pricing/predictive analytics.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee development of strategies related to price, product, and underwriting.
  • Execute and deliver product initiatives that lead to profitability and growth.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and company leaders to implement changes that enhance the customer experience.
  • Research competition to develop opportunity and threat assessments.
  • Lead with a continuous improvement approach.
  • Develop and maintain strong technical expertise and knowledge within the product management team.
  • Oversee research and insights gathering and analysis, including competitive intelligence, customer empathy, understanding of pricing models and innovation methodology, working closely with product development teams.
  • Ensure overall compliance and financial viability.
  • Identify and develop expansion strategy in partnership with appropriate distribution partners to increase exposure of product to new markets.
  • Lead line analysis as prioritized to inform line performance, strategy, and line‑level initiatives.
  • Serve as primary contact with Product Development within assigned LOB.
  • Develop line initiatives and produce line product guides and underwriting guidelines.
  • Develop line communications as directed by Senior Manager – Product.
  • Complete analysis for line business reviews.
  • Complete line P&G initiative analysis.
  • Primary contact with claims for Work Comp line of business.
  • Primary contact with underwriting support teams for Work Comp.
Required Knowledge & Skills
  • Experience providing customer‑driven solutions, support, or service.
  • Experience developing insurance product/line of business strategies.
  • Extensive knowledge of using customer, market, and competitor intelligence.
  • Extensive knowledge of lean innovation, agile or other development/innovation approaches.
  • Extensive knowledge of market research, marketplace, and regulatory trends.
  • Extensive knowledge of product design, pricing, and product management.
  • Solid knowledge of advanced financial and data analysis techniques.
Additional Knowledge & Skills
  • Experience leading projects in product development and product management.
  • Experience with profit and loss accountability.
  • Previous workers compensation experience in the insurance industry is strongly desired.
Travel Requirements

Up to 10%.
