Position: Senior Manager, Commercial Lines Product Development (Hybrid)

You will lead a team responsible for Commercial products design and development in collaboration with business partners. You will research solutions that inform recommended actions to improve profitability, growth and customer experience in support of annual profit and growth plans. In this role, you’ll align new products, enhancements and initiatives to the Commercial top and bottom line short‑term and long‑term goals.

You will create insights from intelligence about customers, market and competitors for problem solving and proactively identify product solutions aligned to product strategy. You will report to an AVP, Product.

Hybrid position.
• Compensation: $131,000 – $220,000 (Salary).


Location:

Madison, WI (preferred) with hybrid options in Boston, MA;
Denver, CO;
Hopkins, MN;
St. Joseph, MO.
• Travel: up to 25%.

Primary Accountabilities
  • Create a collaborative, performance‑driven work environment by fostering trust, transparency, and inclusion.
  • Work with team members to set clear goals, provide feedback, perform performance assessments, and support ongoing development.
  • Lead with influence and expertise, contributing to division or department leadership.
  • Communicate and support organization mission, vision, values, policies, and practices.
  • Lead with a continuous improvement approach and recommend actions to improve premium volume growth and profitability.
  • Lead implementation of product development changes, working with corporate stakeholders for opportunity identification, enterprise service linkage, vendor management, and research.
  • Oversee product research, insights gathering, and analysis, including competitive intelligence, customer empathy, new pricing models, and product solutions.
  • Lead the development of new and enhanced pricing and/or data model opportunities to improve pricing and underwriting segmentation.
  • Manage and set outcomes of the Commercial product development roadmap, defining what “good” looks like and prioritizing accordingly.
  • Oversee the team operating in a scaled agile environment, accountable for epics and features delivered in planned releases.
  • Create a cross‑functional leadership environment, aligning actuarial, product, underwriting, claims, legal/compliance, and IT.
Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience providing customer‑driven solutions, support or service.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing and interpreting facts and data, including financial information, to drive actionable conclusions.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating to a variety of audiences to review findings, arguments, options, risks, benefits, and other issues, translating technical detail into business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience driving results in sales, product lines, claims, or other core business functions.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and leading large complex projects or programs with cross‑divisional impact toward intended results.
  • Demonstrated effective experience leading people or projects.
  • Solid knowledge of root‑cause analysis and processes.
  • Demonstrated experience developing insurance product strategies.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in product development and/or management with a focus on profit and loss.
  • Solid knowledge of market research, marketplace, and regulatory trends.
Additional Specialized Knowledge and Skills
  • Solid knowledge of Commercial P&C product design/development, including new builds, enhancements, and launches.
  • Strong knowledge of pricing & UW segmentation and scaled agile road mapping (define/prioritize features; partner with Product/Actuarial/UW on variables, tiers, eligibility).

Travel Requirements: up to 25%.
