This is a skilled position involving the safe and efficient operation of various types of construction equipment. At least two years of experience operating a loader on road construction projects or in a quarry or asphalt plant is required.

• Operate equipment safely and efficiently.
• Ensure safe slopes on excavations and proper barricading.
• Locate utilities and other buried lines prior to digging.
• Perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor.
• Apply knowledge of trenching and shoring standards.
• Keep accurate time and material records.
• Understand aggregate sizes and classifications.
• Know weight requirements of loads leaving the pit.
• Travel from interstate highways to rural dirt roads across various locations.

• Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds, walk, stoop, squat, sit, and kneel.
• Knowledge of equipment and their uses.
• Ability to apply basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication).
• Familiarity with basic measurements and tape measure usage.
