TBI has completed more than 135 complex bridge construction and rehabilitation projects across the nation, including world-record cable-stayed structures and segmental bridges. The group also has a history of providing some of the country’s largest port authorities and the maritime industry with the construction of deep-water container piers, wharf facilities, transit terminals, locks, and dams.

Position

Summary

Directs activities of workers concerned with the construction of the Houston Ship Channel Bridge by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Studies specifications to plan procedures for construction on basis of starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of construction
  • Procurement of tools and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules
  • Carriers out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, safety training and orientation of new employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Confers with and directs supervisory personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays
  • Confers with supervisory personnel and labor representatives to resolve complaints and grievances within workforce
  • Confers with supervisory and engineering personnel and inspectors and suppliers of tools and materials to resolve construction problems and improve construction methods.
  • Inspects work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and the adherence to construction schedules
  • Prepares or reviews reports on progress, materials used and costs, and adjusts work schedules as indicated by reports
  • Manages Foremen who supervise craft field employees. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this group. May also directly supervise non-supervisory employees
  • Assume additional responsibilities as directed by division and corporate management. Travel as required to attend, but not limited to, meetings, site visits, training, etc. Ability to relocate as needed

Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a construction or engineering-related field preferred, or a combination of education and/or 7-10 years construction supervision work experience
Physical Demands
  • Travel will be required to attend training and meetings.
  • Ability to sit or stand for entire shift
  • Occasionally required to stoop, bend, walk, crouch, and climb.
  • Ability to lift, on a frequent basis, at least 50 pounds.
  • Ability to speak, write, and understand English clearly.
